Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 Bangkok – Chiang Mai

On arrival Bangkok Suvannabhumi International Airport connecting flight to Chiang Mai (Suggested early morning flight) On arrival Chiang Mai the guide will meet you and we will first visit Chiang Mai City Art and Culture Center. Learn about very many different aspects of Chiang Mai’s history but also Chiang Mai today. We continue explore around Chiang Mai City, visit temples in the old city, such as Wat Phra Singh, and Wat Suan Dok.  These temples offer a service whereby monks will chat to tourists and educate them in Buddhist beliefs and explain how a monk lives on a daily basis.

Day 2 Birding and Doi Suthep Temple

Early morning, will drive up to the back site of Doi Suthep-Pui National Park for bird watching, birds possible to be seen; Long–tailed Broadbill, Silver–breasted Broadbill, Maroon Oriole, Hill– blued Flycatcher, Black Baza, Silver–eared Mesia, Mountain Bulbul, Striated Yuhina, White-rumped Munia, Golden – fronted Leafbird etc.

Later we will visit one of the most important temples, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, once you have reached the temple, you can enjoy the best views of Chiang Mai city, from 3,000ft above the ground. Learn about the history of this temple and how it came to be constructed so high up the mountain.

Day 3 Full day Doi Inthanon Bird watching Tour

–           5:30 am Pick up at the hotel lobby, we will leave from the hotel to meander up the winding roads leading to Doi Inthanon. We arrive at the foothill and start early birding, blossom-headed parakeet, Indochinese Bushlark, Burmese Shrike, Purple Sunbird, Golden fronted Leafebird, Rufous Treepie, Scarlet – backed Flowerpecker would be seen at this elevation.

–           Then, we will drive up to the second checkpoint, birds that possible to be seen are; Rufouse-bellied Niltava, Small Niltava, White-gorgeted Flycather, White-browed Scimitar-Babbler, Yellow-checked Tit, Grey-checked Fulveta, Black-headed Sibia, Asian Emerald Cuckcoo, White – tailed Leaf Warbler, White-throated Fantail, Silver-eared Mesia, Spectacled Barwing, Stripe-breasted Woodpecker.

–           Later, we will proceed up to the mountain summit to look for some of the mountain’s rarer birds such as Green – tailed Sunbird, Chestnut – tailed Minla, Pigmy Wren Babbler, Slaty – bellied Tesia, Ashy – throated Warbler, Snowy – browed Flycatcher, Rufous – throated Partridge. Lunch will be at local restaurant in the park or Lunch box.

–           Afternoon we will explore water fall area, birds that possible to be seen: Plumbeous Redstart, White – capped Water Redstart, Slaty – backed Forktail, Black – backed Forktail, Blue Whistling Thrush, Silver – breasted Broadbill, Black – napped Monarch, Asian Paradise – Flycatcher and more…

 Day 4 Chiang Mai – Chiang Rai

Today we venture to our destination for Chiang Rai, home to the idyllic Mekhong River. Once there, we will visit Wat Rong Khun or the White temple. Moving on, we will come to the town of Chiang Saen, one of the north’s most interesting and attractive towns, blessed with over 60 historical monuments, visit to Phra That Doi Pu Khao

Then it’s an exciting boat trip along the Maekhong River, which leads us to the convergence of the borders of Myanmar, Laos and Thailand, known as The Golden Triangle.

After come back to Thailand before check in at the hotel we will visit The Hall of Opium. This interesting museum gives us a detailed insight in to the history of the opium industry, beginning in 17th century

 Day 5 Doi Mae Salong

Early morning: start birding around resort area

After checking out from your hotel, we will then depart to experience the beautiful scenery at Doi Mae Salong, the largest Tea plantation area in Thailand. We will stop to visit some hill tribe villages such as Yao, Akha and the Yunnanese to gain knowledge of their unique independent lifestyle & customs.

Stop birding along the way.

Overnight in Chiang Rai or transfer to Chiang Rai Airport for evening flight
