Doi Inthanon/ Doi Angkhang /Doi Sanju 7 days 6 nights
Note: The itinerary is just the guideline, tour or nature trail can be flexible and could be changed according to weather condition, nature or road condition but the main concept will be the same. However, no guarantee that every bird which listed on the itinerary will be seen as depend on the time of the year and as nature birds can fly.
Northern Thailand Bird Watching tour Itinerary details
Day 1 Doi Inthanon
Meet at the hotel lobby, OR at Chiangmai International Airport, we will meander up the winding roads leading to Doi Inthanon. We will observe the bird in the different habitat in the lower elevation area. Birds that possible to be seen; White – crested Laughing Thrush, Golden – fronted Leafbird, Blue – winged Leafbird, White – throated Kingfisher, Lineated Barbet, Coppersmith Barbet, Green Bee – eater, Asian – barred Owlet, Crested Treeswift, Ashy Minivet, Olive – backed Sunbird. Lunch will be at local restaurant in the national park.
In the evening we will check in to the accommodation
Overnight in Doi Inthanon
Day 2 Doi Inthanon
This morning will proceed up to the second checkpoint, birds that possible to be seen are: Rufouse-bellied Niltava, Small Niltava, White-gorgeted Flycather, White-browed Scimitar-Babbler, Yellow-checked Tit, Grey-checked Fulveta, Black-headed Sibia, Asian Emerald Cuckcoo, Blyth’s Leaf Warbler, White-throated Fantail, Silver-eared Mesia, Spectacled Barwing, Fulvous – breasted Woodpecker, Bronzed Drongo
Later, will proceed to the mountains summit to look for some of the mountain’s rarer birds, such as Green – tailed Sunbird, Chestnut – tailed Minla, Pigmy Wren Babbler, Slaty – bellied Tesia, Ashy – throated Warbler, Snowy – browed Flycatcher, Rufous – throated Partridge, Chestnut – crowned Laughingthrush, Flavescent Bulbul.
After lunch, will visit different habitat such as, waterfall, farm land etc. in the National Park area. Birds possible to be seen; Plumbeous Redstart, White – capped Water Redstart, Slaty – backed Forktail, Black – backed Forktail, Blue Whistling Thrush, Silver – breasted Broadbill, Black – napped Monarch, Asian Paradise – Flycatcher and more…
Overnight in Doi Inthanon
Day 3 Doi Inthanon> Chiang Dao > Fang
Early morning, continue bird watching in Doi Inthanon National Park area. Late morning, after checkout we will drive down and heading north to Chiang Dao. After Lunch will travel to Overnight in Fang Town
(Possible to stop for bird watching at some popular local patch on the way)
Day 4 Doi Angkhang
Early morning, drives up to Doi Angkhang, during the day we will birding at different site. Possible spotting several bird species and enjoy the cool climate of Doi Angkhang, at the border military camp, hill tribe village. Possible birds to be seen; Giant Nuthatch, Silver -eared Mesia, White – tailed Robin, White – browed Scimitar Babbler, Mountain Tailorbird, White – rumped Shama, Daurian Redstart, Brown – breasted Bulbul, Crested Finchbill, Black – crested Bulbul, Peregrine Falcon, Great Barbet, Green – billed Malkoha etc.
Evening overnight in Fang Town
Day 5- 6 Doi Sanju
Early morning, arranges breakfast & Lunch box. We will take an hour drive up to Doi Sanju. Spend the day searching for bird in the National Park. Birds possible to be seen; Mountain Bamboo Partridges, Mrs. Hume Pheasant, Mountain Imperial Pigeon, Mountain Hawk Eagle, Largh Cukooshrike, Large Niltava, Chestnut – crowned Warbler, Himalayan Cutia, Rufous – winged Fulvetta, Spotted – winged Grosbeak etc.
Evening drive back to overnight in Fang Town.
Day 7 Doi Sanju> Chiangmai
Early morning after check out, we will drive up to Doi Sanju for a half day birding. Then travel along the scenic road for 3-4 hours back to Chiangmai. Transfer to your hotel or Airport.
