Day by day itinerary

Day 1 Chiang Rai – Chiang Sean

Meet at Chiang Rai Airport, travel to Chiang Sean Lake, take boat trip to search for Ducks in the Lake.

Common Shelduck, Ruddy Shelduck, Mandarin Duck,Common Pochard, Garganey, Northern –Shoveler, Northern Pintail, Eastern Marsh Harrier, Striated Grassbird.

Afternoon drive around the lake area and evening check at the Harrier roosting area.

Overnight in Chiang Sean area

Day 2 Chiang Sean – Namkhum Nature Reserve

Spend morning in the grassland, searching for Yellow-breasted Bunting, Crested Bunting, Black-headed Bunting etc., After lunch we will observe the hide at Namkham Nature reserve for Yellow-breasted Prinia, Baikal Grasshopper – warbler, Blunt-winged Warbler, Oriental Reed-warbler, Chestnut-crowned Bush-warbler.

Overnight in Chiang Sean area

Day 3 Doi Chang Moob – Tha Ton

Morning; Drive to Doi Chang Moob, check for Grey-winged Blackbird, Eyebrowed Thrush, Grey-sided Thrush, Chestnut Thursh. The rare species like Dusky & Naumann’s Thrush once reported at the site recently.

Afternoon, drive to overnight in Tha Ton.

Day 4 Doi Lang

Early morning prepare breakfast & Lunch then drives up to Doi Lang. Searching for Fire -tailed Sunbird, Himalayan Bush-robin, Black-throated Bushtit, Rufous-gorgeted Flycatcher, Slaty-backed Flycatcher, Whiskered Yuhina, Buff-bared Warbler, Plallas’s Leaf-warbler

Overnight in Tha Ton

Day 5 Tha Ton & Mae Ai Paddies

morning check around Tha Ton and Mae Ai paddies, Pied Harrier, Common/Pin-tailed Snipe/ White breasted Waterhen, Oriental Pratincole, Paddyfield Pipit, Citrine Wagtail. Chestnut-eared Bunting. Australasian Bushlark.

Drive to overnight in Fang

Day 6 -7 Doi San Ju

Early morning drives up to Doi SanJu, spend whole day up there.

Expect to see White-bellied Redstart, Spot-breasted Parrotbill, Sapphire Flycatcher, Himalayan Cutia, Grey-headed Parrot-billed, Rusty-cheeked Scimitar Babbler etc.

Overnight in Fang

Day 8

Early morning drives up to Doi Angkhang, during the day we will birding at different site. Possible spotting several bird species and enjoy the cool climate of Doi Angkhang, at the border military camp, hill tribe village. Possible birds to be seen; Giant Nuthatch, Silver-eared Mesia, White–tailed Robin, White–browed Scimitar Babbler, Mountain Tailorbird, White–rumped Shama, Daurian Redstart, Brown–breasted Bulbul, Crested Finchbill, Black–crested Bulbul, Peregrine Falcon, Great Barbet, Green–billed Malkoha, Spot-breasted Parrotbill and the Red-faced Liocichla etc.

Overnight in Chiang Dao
Day 9

Morning, check out and birdwatching at Wat Tum Pha Plong, Chiang Dao wildlife Santuary head office. Late afternoon drive 1 ½ hr to Chiang Mai or Transfer to Chiang Mai international airport.
