Doi Inthanon- Mae Ping-Mae Wong -Bung Borapet Bird Watching Tour 7 days 6 nights

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1  

Pick up at the hotel lobby, or meet at Chiang Mai International Airport to meander up the winding roads leading to Doi Inthanon. We arrive at the foothill and start early birding, blossom-headed parakeet, Indochinese Bushlark, Burmese Shrike, Purple Sunbird, Golden fronted Leafebird, Rufous Treepie, Scarlet – backed Flowerpecker would be seen at this elevation.

Then, we will drive up to the second checkpoint, birds that possible to be seen are; Rufouse-bellied Niltava, Small Niltava, White-gorgeted Flycather, White-browed Scimitar-Babbler, Yellow-checked Tit, Grey-checked Fulveta, Black-headed Sibia, Asian Emerald Cuckcoo, White – tailed Leaf Warbler, White-throated Fantail, Silver-eared Mesia, Spectacled Barwing, Stripe-breasted Woodpecker.
Later, we will proceed up to the mountain summit to look for some of the mountain’s rarer birds such as Green – tailed Sunbird, Chestnut – tailed Minla, Pigmy Wren Babbler, Slaty – bellied Tesia, Ashy – throated Warbler, Snowy – browed Flycatcher, Rufous – throated Partridge.
Afternoon we will explore water fall area, birds that possible to be seen: Plumbeous Redstart, White – capped Water Redstart, Slaty – backed Forktail, Black – backed Forktail, Blue Whistling Thrush, Silver – breasted Broadbill, Black – napped Monarch, Asian Paradise – Flycatcher and more…

 Day 2

This morning will proceed up to different site in the National Park, bird that possible to be seen are: Emeral Cuckoo, Yellow wagtail, White-browed Piculet, Rosy Minivet, Amur Paradise Flycatcher, Wedged-tailed Green Pigeon, Crested Serpent Eagle. Hume’s Treecreeper.

After lunch, will visit different habitat such as, farm land etc. in the National Park area. Birds possible to be seen; Common Morhen, Haire-crested Drongo, White -headed Bulbul, Black Bulbul, Hill Prinia more…

Late afternoon will drive overnight in Baan Hong,

Day 3

Welcome to a fresh morning with a beautiful Green Peafowl at Baan Hong Non-Hunting station 

After spending a couple hour watching the male dazzling courtship displays to attract female. (Oct – Mar) Then we continue to Mae Ping National Park, stroll along a nice paved narrow road through a beautiful dry deciduous forest, which is best for different kind of Woodpeckers. White-bellied Woodpecker, Black-headed Woodpecker, Greater Flameback, Rufous Woodpecker, Greater Yellownape, Ashy Drongo and much more.

Evening check in at local accommodation

 Day 4

Early morning, we will continue birding in Mae Ping National Park until Noon,

After local lunch then we will drive to overnight at the foothill of Mae Wong National Park.

 Day 5 

Today will explore Mae Wong National Park, drive up to Khun Nam Yen and Chong Yen campsite & view point. Enjoy a cool breeze and stunning view while listening to a bird sound and finding them.

Grey Peacock-pheasant, Burmese Yuhina, Red-billed Scimitar-babbler, Rufous-throated Partridge, White-tailed Robin, White-necked Laughing Thrush, Black-throated Laughing Thrush, Green Magpie, Red-headed Trogon, Silver Pheasant.

Day 6

We will spend half day in Mae Wong National Park. Late afternoon will drive to overnight in Nakornsawan

 Day 7

Early rise to go to take a boat trip around Bung Borapet Non-hunting area.

Asian Openbill, Cattle Egret, Gray-headed Swamphen, Zitting Cisticola, Asian Golden Weaver, Pheasant-tailed Jacana, Red-wattled Lapwing, White-browed Crake, Indian Spot-billed Duck, Ferruginous Duck/Baer’s Pochard etc.

Afternoon transfer 3-4 hr. to Bangkok
